Funding Research & Raising Awareness of Invasive Group A Strep Infections
Conor's Bike took over from Conor's Hike in 2015, with the Tiger's taking on the inaugural Cardiff Velothon on behalf of Conor's Fund.
Along with15,000 other riders they tackled the 140Km marathon route over two Welsh mountains, starting and finishing in Cardiff, raising £1,800. Frankly, they deserved sponsorship just for wearing Lycra in public!
2016 brought the first ever overseas fund-raiser, a ride from Nice, France through Monaco to Ventimiglia in Italy over the coastal Alps - and back again in one day! All in a total of 90Km, 3 countries & over 11,000 ft of climbing in near 30deg heat. Plus a lap of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit to boot, raising over £1,500.
As ever, no costs of any kind were taken from donations, with all expenses being met by the volunteers themselves. Even the hospital bills....
About Us
Our aim is to raise public awareness of invasive Strep A infections - their causes, symptoms and possible outcomes - whilst raising funds to support research into their prevention, diagnosis and cure.
Conor's Fund provides financial support to the Gram Positive Pathogenesis Research Group at Hammersmith Hospital and Imperial College, one of the few research groups in the UK working to combat Strep infections.
